New names

New names are the strategic direction of the CCA Winzavod in supporting artists. It is based on two rules: research and expertise. Before launching each CCA Winzavod projects examines the request that the professional community has for solving certain tasks, and engages art industry professionals to ensure transparency of the selection procedure. Current projects of the direction are the Open Studios, the NOWALLS street gallery and the Winzavod.Experiment.

The Open Studios project was launched in 2017. The project provides aspiring artists selected by the expert council with a space for work and creativity, an up-to-date educational program and the opportunity to integrate into a professional environment. For the authors, participation in this project provides an opportunity to take the first steps in the art industry under the guidance of experienced professionals, and for the audience - the opportunity to observe the process of creating a work of art.

The Winzavod.Experiment was launched in 2025. As part of it, residents of Workshops and graduates of the Open Studios get the opportunity to implement their own curatorial or exhibition projects in the exhibition format. The program meets the need for a vibrant, flexible space where one can freely try, explore, and refine one's own artistic or curatorial method.

The first draft of the program was START, which existed for almost 10 years, from 2008 to 2017. The unique platform served as a professional elevator for aspiring artists. A solo exhibition is the best way for an author to express himself. Every month, the START project gave an opportunity to one of the artists to show his project at the CCA Winzavod.

In 2017, the Winzavod Center for Contemporary Art celebrated its 10th anniversary. During this time, together with the CCA Winzavod, a generation of artists grew up, who by that year could already claim to be the new heroes of the modern Russian art scene. The main event of the jubilee year was the cycle of large-scale exhibitions "Farewell to eternal Youth".
