Eight new exhibitions in the resident galleries of the CCA Winzavod

10 July 2024
On July 9, the Vinzavod Center of Contemporary Art hosted a traditional Opening Night, where eight new exhibitions opened in the resident gallery. Gallery XL presented an exhibition dedicated to Vladislav Mamyshev-Monroe "Monroe TV". Timur Novikov, Juris Lesnik, Vladislav Mamyshev-Monroe and Georgy Guryanov were directly involved in the creation of the independent Pirate Television company (1990-92). The current show includes various fragments of the "New Pirate Television" and other video works. The exhibition will run until July 31. Pop/off/art Gallery presents Shamil Shaaev's exhibition "Big Wings hung over me". The central issue of the exhibition is the control of the state as a structure over the body and its movements, which corresponds to the repressive nature of ballet practices. The project is based on Rudolf Nureyev's autobiography (1938-1993) and work with archives. The exhibition will run until August 21. On 11.12, the GALLERY presented a new group project "Part of the Whole", which focuses on the work of Anna Selina, Sonya Kobozeva, Victoria Weisbrut and Marina Pchelyakova. Throughout the opening period, the works are constantly changing, without being fixed in a specific sequence. The exhibition will run until September 6th. The Totibadze Gallery has opened an exhibition of the Seven Arts association "The Forest of Seven Rumors". The artists turn to personal themes and use visual images to tell personal stories: for some, this is a fairy tale born from childhood memories, for others, the project is based on folklore motifs reflecting the collective unconscious. The exhibition will run until August 4th. Alexander Bodnar's exhibition "Mathematical Cognition of the Soul" has opened in the BIS ART Gallery. The artist has developed a theory of the evolution of the soul. In painting, theory is presented in a system of metaphorical images, combined with mathematical schemes and author's formulas that introduce a scientific dimension to the composition. The exhibition will run until July 23. PENNLAB Gallery presented the group project "Shadow Area" by students of the Project Photography group at the Rodchenko School. The exhibition is dedicated to reflections on the nature of light and its dark component. A simple discussion about contrast, the boundaries of shadow and light has greatly helped philosophy to understand the structure of the real world, to divide it into objective and illusory parts. The exhibition will run until August 22. HSE ART GALLERY has opened the final exhibition of the HSE School of Design "Collection. The order of things." The project combines very different works: graphics, photographs, installations, video art, video games and sound art, which examine the phenomenon of collecting from new angles. The exhibition will run until August 31. The exhibition "The Space Between" for first-year students of the MSCA Modern Art program has opened in the Fermentation Workshop of the CSI Vinzavod. The exhibition is the result of the first year of training for young authors. They reflect on the topic of boundaries: personal, cultural, state. The exhibition will run until July 21. Admission to the galleries is free, please check the opening hours on the galleries' website. The press folder is available on request at press@winzavod.ru (the photo shows the work of Alexandra Pavlovskaya from the series "The Body of Memory", HSE ART GALLERY)
