Katya Florenskaya

Katya Florenskaya was born in St. Petersburg in 1986. From 2002 to 2016 she took part in about fifty general and personal exhibitions in different cities of Russia as well as in Poland, Ukraine and Montenegro. Until 2007, she exhibited under the pseudonym of Ekaterina Ilyina. She was engaged in photography, video art, graphic design, painting and graphics. In 2009 she graduated from St. Petersburg State University, majoring in graphic design. In 2012 she joined the Union of Artists. She lives and works in St. Petersburg.

The works of Katya Florenskaya are in the collection of the State Russian Museum, the Museum of Communication named after V.I. Lenin. Popov Museum, as well as in the collections of galleries and private collections in Russia and abroad. 

Each painting depicts one of the classic subjects of the senior arcana of Tarot cards, equipped with an explanatory text. The archetypical subjects of the maps have been revised in a modern way.

The project explores the connection between the archetype and mythology and the ordinary phenomena and realities surrounding the artist, finding parallels between ancient symbols and everyday objects.
