Winzavod Foundation for Contemporary Art and Mriya Resort present an exhibition project on new femininity Пространство/Space
The exhibition project is part of a long-term study of alterations in the concept of femininity and perceptions of it, initiated by the сurator of Mriya Resort. The central pieces of the study are "Manifesto of a New Femininity" and
the documentary of the same name by Ksenia Zueva, who through the stories of ten women have shown contrasting stances on femininity in Russia.
The Пространство/Space exhibition continues the tradition of reevaluating femininity through contemporary scene and presents the works of ten Russian artists: Lisokot, vtol ::, Ekaterina Gerasimenko, Irina Korina, Taisia Korotkova, Nina Kotel, Anna Mokhova, Mika Plutitskaya, Ksenia Peretrukhina and Anna Samoilova.
Curator Asya Anikeeva:
“At the exhibition, the viewer alternately finds himself in ten spaces transformed by artists to reflect female qualities. We get around the quintessential gender stereotypes by uncovering the nature of the feminine. Femininity - in its pure manifestation - is a conduit for the most daring ideas, the very space that allows creation and passage. "
Among the works presented are paintings, installations, sculptures and a hybrid robotic object.
