Moscow-Rome. 2020 Reflection

On May 20, at 19:00, the opening of the exhibition “Moscow-Rome. 2020 Reflection ", which will feature selected works of the winners and participants of the artwork competition" Mosca-Roma. 2020 Riflessi / "Moscow-Rome. 2020 Reflection ". The exposition will last until June 13, after which it will move to Yekaterinburg and then to Rome.

The competition was attended by 35 art schools in Moscow and 18 art lyceums in Rome. A total of 423 works were submitted for the competition. The winners were 3 Moscow art schools and 3 art lyceums in Rome.

The competition is held by the Italian Embassy in Russia, a non-profit organization “Anima (Soul). Center for Cultural Innovation ”, the Association of Schools of Rome - Scuola Maestra APS (ScuolediRoma. It) in partnership with RENALIART (National Network of Italian Art Lyceums - Rete Nazionale Licei Artistici), with the support of the governments of Moscow and Rome.

“We were thinking about holding a competition in the days when Italy was the first in the world to freeze, faced with the growing threat of the spread of an unknown virus. Soon after, the whole world was forced to stop, which had never happened before. It seemed to us a challenge, we did not understand what was happening, we lived in a suspended, unreal time waiting for events, but we felt the importance of this project, which would allow young people to "travel" outside their rooms, and art would become a spiritual relief in such difficult moments ”(Elisabetta Salvatorelli, project coordinator in Italy).

The theme of the works of young Russian and Italian artists was life during the period of lockdown, isolation, and a pandemic that struck the entire planet.

“These reflections are like mirror images: these are reflections on the peculiarities of 2020, on changes in life, in a person, in relations between people and states due to quarantine and a pandemic that shook the world. The aim of the competition is to popularize contemporary fine art, to search for and help in the promotion of talented artists, in the prospects for their further professional growth, to attract public attention to art education, "said Karen Terracciano, one of the authors of the competition, along with Elisabetta Salvatorelli and Larisa Paramonova fr om the Anima Foundation.

The jury of the competition included Marina Loshak, director of the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts. A.S. Pushkina, Teresa Mavica, director of the Russian pavilion at the Venice Biennale, Daria Pushkova, director of the Russian Center for Science and Culture in Rome, Daniela Rizzi, director of the Italian Institute of Culture in Moscow and Flaminia Jorda, technical coordinator of the Italian Ministry of Education.

Among the awards are certificates for the purchase of goods for the artists of the FILA group.

After the exhibition in Moscow, the exposition will travel to Yekaterinburg, wh ere it will be exhibited as part of a cultural program timed to coincide with Italy's participation in the Innoprom industrial exhibition as a partner country. After Yekaterinburg, the artworks will be exhibited in Rome.
