he pop/off/art gallery presents the exhibition "Pics. Olga and Sergey Popov collection" as part of the Biennale of Private Collections initiated by the New Collectors Foundation. Among the statements of participants and projects of institutions participating in the biennale and demonstrating the diversity of preferences and formats for the implementation of art, for the first time works from the personal collection of Olga and Sergey Popov - art historians and owners of the pop/off/art gallery - will be comprehensively shown.

The project "Pics. Olga and Sergey Popov collection" is a reflection on the art historical perspective, which became the basis and support of pop/off/art. The decision to display the collection of the gallery founders revealed an intuitively found, but dominant line and method in acquiring art - through the search for consonances in the works of artists referring to the imagery of different periods of culture.

In its anniversary year, pop/off/art consistently demonstrates its principles and values through projects that reveal the main aspects of our activities. Thus, the exhibition "Reflections" curated by Sergei Popov, which took place this winter, presented a digest of mirrors in contemporary art and was a reflection of the gallery on its path. The project "Gusts and Blows", which took place in the Red Workshop at Winzavod, became for us not only the result of 20 years of work, but also an introduction to an open dialogue about collecting - a topic that will be widely presented as part of the Biennale of Collections in 2025. The exhibition presented works acquired from the gallery in more than 30 private, corporate and museum collections, and the concept formulated by pop/off/art artist and curator of "Gusts and Blows" Ivan Novikov appealed to the deep essence of art - to the feelings and experiences that are born when encountering works preserved in collections thanks to the gallery. The new project is an attempt to characterize the gallery founders from the point of view of their personal collection and to emphasize the taste of collectors who are themselves part of a community that popularizes art. As art historians, the Popov family highlights as one of the main conceptual lines of their collection works by contemporary artists with references, homages, and motifs from the history of art and the history of culture in general. The exhibition will feature works by more than 15 authors, including Viktor Pivovarov, Evgeny Gorokhovsky, Leonid Tishkov, Avdey Ter-Oganyan, Olga Chernysheva, Vitaly Pushnitsky, Sasha Lemish, Nestor Engelke, Ivan Gorshkov, Mikhail Levius, Ivan Novikov and others.
