Online master class from PiranesiLAB workshop

16+

On the sixth online broadcast the head of the printing shop PiranesiLAB . Alexey Veselovsky will talk about the technology of gravure printing and show the process of creating a new work by Olga Chernysheva.

Technique of gravure printing from photopolymer plates, on the other hand - photofort, is a modern continuation and development of classic etching and metal incisors. The technology makes it possible to obtain prints both from photographic and hand-drawn originals. Characteristic advantages of gravure printing, such as the volume of the color layer and the depth of the resulting tone, are incredibly extended by the ability to accurately convey delicate photographic gradients and halftone images.

Chine-collé is a special collage technique used in the printing process in which paper of a different color, thickness or texture is glued to the base at the moment of creation of the print. This produces a multilayer image consisting of two or more layers of paper, each of which can be printed with its own pattern.

PiranesiLAB is an experimental printing laboratory under the supervision of Alexey Veselovsky. It specializes in the creation of circulation graphic works of art. He has wide technical capabilities to implement projects in various manual printing techniques from classical etching and engraving to silkscreen and digital printing.

Olga Chernysheva is a modern artist, working with a whole range of different media - from oil painting to photography and video art. In the subjects of her works, she constantly returns to scenes from everyday life and human issues. She is interested in marginal characters, objects located at the very periphery of visual perception, the space of the city and its suburbs.  She is a participant in the Venice Biennale (2001, 2015). Olga Chernysheva's works are kept in numerous museum collections, such as the collection of the Russian Museum in St. Petersburg, the Tretyakov Gallery in Moscow, as well as in many foreign collections, the Library of MOMA, the Louis Vuitton Foundation in Paris, the Nasher Museum of Art at Duke University in the United States and many others.

Previous workshops have already shown risographics, silkscreen and high print (broadcast available in Instagram ).
