Anna Dial
46℃

Vernissage will take place on November 24 at 19:00

"Unprecedented heat in Canada and the Northwest of the United States: the temperature exceeded + 46 ° C, breaking the record of 80 years ago", "In Europe, devastating floods turn more and more cities into a natural disaster zone", "Fires of Russia were named one of the reasons for catastrophic pollution planets "," Yakutia is on fire "- such headlines filled the info space in the abnormally hot summer of 2021. Within a few months, there were large forest fires in Siberia, Greece, Turkey and North America, floods in Germany and China. All these more frequent natural disasters are the consequences of global warming. And according to the forecasts of scientists, with an increase in temperature on Earth, such phenomena will occur more often.

Artist Anna Dial, in Project 46 ℃, undertakes to rethink these events, taking as a basis the stories of the summer of 2021 fr om news and social networks. In the center of the plot is the heroine Super Womxn, which was invented by the artist in 2018 for cartoon projects.

The world of 46 ℃ is saturated with everyday life and indifference, contrasting with the real threat and its consequences. Beach selfie against the background of a smoking forest. Modern bathers, like the bathers of 20th century artists, run to city waters and fountains, hoping to cool off. On social networks, they are discussing where to buy cheap air conditioning and the danger of too open summer women's clothing. Lifeguards take out a girl in an inflatable pool, who leaves her flooded house for good.

Sculpture, painting, embroidery, animation and redymade installations by Anna Dial is a live comic strip that reminds of the above events and tells about their terrible consequences, which can be noticed or ignored, but everyone will have to adapt to the new climate changes.

A musical ambient / drone accompaniment by the Russian composer Lednik Frontier was written especially for the exhibition. The two-hour meditative composition consists of two parts. The first is dedicated to land - its sultry territories. There are many field recordings of sounds and noises around us every day. The second part is about big water, wh ere the enveloping sound gives a feeling of calm, but it can change to alarm at any moment.
